Natural Games 2013

Jul 4, 2013

The French Freestyle Kayak Championships took place this weekend at the artificial river at Millau during the mythical Natural Games Festival ! The Natural Games sporting had an extremely busy schedule ! Five sports, eleven different disciplines either being competed or demonstrated with French Freestyle Kayak Championships as the highlight event. For four days, lovers of extreme sports gathered around the Millau white water course, met athletes from all horizons (MTB, kayak, paragliding, slackline, and rock-climbing) and chilled out together in the evenings at gigs by groups such as Nneka, Wax Tailor and Nasser!

Throughout the weekend end, paddlers competed with their Mc Nasties, Phoenix Monkies and divers acrobatic tricks !!! The hottest Freestyle kayakers were there, including James Bebbington, the current Men’s World champion, Mathieu Dumoulin, double European champion and Quim Fontané Maso, the current European champion. As for the girls, Nuria Fontané Maso European junior champion was there with Katia Kulkova (7th position worldwide) and  Marlène Devillez, double European women’s champion.

The kayakers flew, the points soared, the judges kept a close eye on the combos.

In the Junior Ladies category, Nuria climbed onto the top step of the podium. Thomas Richard took Junior Men Gold. As for the C1 Men, Alexandre Besseau triumphed over Sébastien Devred.
Marlène Devillez was the top Senior Lady whilst Mathieu Dumoulin won with a massive 2250 point run.

The Natural Games were just as we had dreamed off : great weather, a good wave and keen kayakers. I’m so happy to win this event and so win the title of champion of France for the six time! Thank you level-six for this high-performance equipment that allows me to challenge myself every year!

Thanks to all the organizers and volunteer helpers!

See you next year!
